BAHÁ’U’LLÁHBAHÁ’Í Faith
The Bahá’í Faith is a world religion based on the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh (meaning “the Glory of God”). Bahá’ís view religion as a progressive and evolving process which needs to be periodically updated and revitalized as humanity develops mentally, socially and materially. Bahá’ís believe that throughout history, God has sent to humanity a series of divine Educators—known as Manifestations of God—whose teachings have provided the basis for the advancement of civilization. These Manifestations have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad. Bahá’u’lláh, the latest of these Messengers, explained that the religions of the world come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God.
Inspired By The Teachings Of Bahá’u’lláh, Bahá’ís Share A Common Goal Of Service
Bahá’ís of the world share a common goal of serving humanity and refine their inner-lives in accordance with the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh. The community to which they belong is one of learning and action, free from any sense of superiority or claim to exclusive understanding of truth. It is a community that strives to cultivate hope for the future of humanity, to foster purposeful effort, and to celebrate the endeavours of all those in the world who work to promote unity and alleviate human suffering.PRINCIPLES
The teachings of Baha’u’llah are vast in their scope, exploring such themes as the nature and purpose of God’s revelation, the inherent nobility of the human being, the cultivation of spiritual qualities, and humanity’s interactions with the natural world.
The Bahá’í Writings are also replete with references to universal peace. Over a century and a half ago, Bahá’u’lláh stated certain social principles for the establishment of this universal peace. Some of these principles include:
- Equality of the rights of men and women
- Elimination of all forms of prejudice
- Universal peace upheld by a world government
- Harmony and agreement between religion and science
- Spiritual solution to economic problems
- Universal compulsory education
- Independent investigation of truth by each person
- Adoption of a universal auxiliary language
